(Dec. 15, 2020) – To manage capacity and maintain safe physical distancing, New Year’s Eve at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will offer two reservation sessions this year, one for a daytime visit and one for a nighttime visit with two nighttime fireworks celebrations. The Busch Gardens team has consulted with medical experts to offer a modified event with required reservations and limited capacity that celebrates the spirit of the season safely. This seasonal event features open-air entertainment and experiences as well as enhanced health and safety measures including increased cleaning and sanitation, temperature checks, face covering requirements and physical distancing. Whether using a single visit ticket, Fun Card or Annual Pass, guests can reserve the session that works best for them to ring in the New Year with thrilling rides, Christmas Town festivities, amazing animals and more!

Play By Day: Reserve from 9:00 A.M – 5:00 P.M.

Guests can celebrate the excitement of the coming New Year by taking on Florida’s biggest and best thrill rides, enjoying delicious seasonal treats in the Christmas Town village and experiencing awe-inspiring animal encounters – now including NEW Animal Insider Tours.

·         For the hard-to-buy for family member, an exclusive upgrade experience with a giraffe, penguin, tortoise or elephant makes an unforgettable gift! NEW this year, holiday shoppers can gift behind-the-scenes opportunities with the park’s hippos and rhinos. Play By Night: Reserve from 6:00 P.M. – 1:00 A.M.

New Year’s Eve at Busch Gardens combines the holiday fun of Christmas Town while starting 2021 with a bang with two fireworks presentations for guests to choose from.

In order to manage capacity on the Festival Field during fireworks, reserved access for the Festival Field must be purchased in advance. Guests can also reserve premium field viewing for a small upcharge to one of two fireworks presentations during the New Year’s Eve Celebration. Guests can choose the 8:30 P.M. or 11:30 P.M. seating, available online now for purchase. 

For everyone’s comfort and safety, New Year’s Eve Celebration fireworks can also be enjoyed from a number of locations around the park, included with admission. Ideal viewing locations are suggested on the park’s website.


Millions of twinkling lights, NEW holiday fireworks, the first-ever outdoor production of ‘Christmas on Ice’ and much more merriment, complete with enhanced health and safety measures, are making spirits bright this year

New this year, the event kicks off with a preview weekend with light displays and select entertainment elements on November 14 and 15. Christmas Town runs daily with park-wide festive fun from November 20, 2020 through January 3, 2021.

To bring the merriment to life, Busch Gardens’ creative team has consulted with medical experts to offer a modified event with required reservations and limited capacity that celebrates the spirit of the season safely. This seasonal event features open-air entertainment and experiences as well as enhanced health, safety and sanitation measures, including temperature checks, face covering requirements and physical distancing. Included in park admission, park guests can enjoy holiday traditions with a twist, from millions of twinkling lights throughout the park’s 335 acres to physically distant holiday shows, breathtaking animal encounters and contact-free visits with Santa and Rudolph® the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

The creative production team has been consulting with medical experts and has modified this year’s event content with a focus on open-air scare zones and entertainment, as well as enhanced health and safety measures, while staying true to the core of this fan-favorite experience. With significantly limited capacity to create plenty of open space, guests will experience the heart-pounding fear of unexpected horrors including freakishly fun themed open-air scare zones throughout the 335-acre park, in addition to Busch Gardens’ thrilling coasters at night. Howl-O-Scream is a separately ticketed event, available during 18 horrifying nights every Friday through Sunday from September 25-November 1, 2020.

In addition to enhancing the park’s already strict health and safety measures, including consulting with medical experts, face covering requirements and temperature screenings, park capacity will be significantly limited to create even more open space for guests to be scared, terrified, and thrilled throughout one of Florida’s largest theme parks. As many have heard, SeaWorld has been doing some things for the pass members such as, A Taste of SeaWorld Seven Seas at SeaWorld of Texas. Large screens to see movies in the parking lot of SeaWorld Orlando, It’s very own drive in theater.

Below is one of our favorite and beloved attractions that is now gone. Rhino Rally was so awesome and missed by so many fans. My son was the navigator in this video.

Busch Gardens Tampa is located about 75 minute drive from Orlando.  This theme park is owned by the same company as SeaWorld.  Busch Gardens Tampa, BGT, is a unique theme park that features a zoo and attractions.  It is similar to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.  BGT is 335 acres and is accredited by the AZA(Association of Zoos and Aquariums.  BGT is ranked number 11 as far as the most visited theme park in the USA.  BGT opened on March 31, 1959.  Owned and operated back then by Anheuser-Busch, it was admission free.  In 1965 they added the Serengeti Plains as a 29 acre African reserve.  The wildlife roamed freely.

Morocco is the parks entrance area.  Bird Gardens is the original area of the park and opened in 1959.  It featured the brewery section of the park however, it closed in 1995.  Qwazi Rollercoaster is located in this section. Stanleyville is the section of the park that has SheiKra and the 2 water rides.  There is a train station in-between SheiKra and Zambia smokehouse. Congo houses Kumba and the Congo River Rapids ride.  It also has a train station as well.  There are bumper cars near the train station.  A walkway will take you to the coaster and the rapids. Jungala is a great children’s area.  Inside this area there are Tigers and Orangutans.  Pantopia is a newly renamed area that was once named Timbuktu.  This area has Scorpion coaster, several thrill rides and bazaar type flair.  The new Flacons Fury is located here as well. Nairobi has reptiles, and gorillas.  The animal care center is where veterinary care is given to the animals.  This building was once behind the scenes, now available to the guests. Egypt is home to Montu a roller coaster. The new Cobra’s Curse, built in 2016 is located here. Crown Colony Plaza is home to the restaurant and across it houses the rollercoaster, Cheetah Hunt.  There is a cheetah run area where guest can see cheetah up close.

From Tigris to Pin Trading, park guests can enjoy new experiences this spring at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Beyond Tigris, the park is offering more experiences for guests to enjoy this spring as a part of the 60th Anniversary Celebration.

–          At the 60th Anniversary Celebration Kickoff on March 1, guests can enjoy the “Women Rock” performance from the Florida Orchestra, a tribute to the women who changed rock ‘n’ roll forever, ending in a dazzling fireworks display. The field opens at 5:30 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. concert and 8:30 p.m. fireworks presentation.

–          Also beginning on March 1, park guests will be able to engage in the all-new Pin Trading program at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Launching with over 150 collectible pins, the new Pin Trading program offers pocket-sized souvenirs inspired by fan-favorite animals, attractions, events and more at merchandise locations throughout the park. Guests can trade their purchased pins with park ambassadors to collect exclusive series not sold in stores. Limited and special edition pins will also be made available throughout the year.

–          Beginning March 16, the 5th Annual Food & Wine Festival not only features a world-class concert line-up but will also highlight the park’s history with an anniversary themed culinary cabin, featuring flavors inspired by treats and snacks once featured at Busch Gardens.

–          2019 is still the #YearofBeer for all adult park guests. With a nostalgic nod to the park’s roots, guests age 21 and older can enjoy two complimentary beer samples each day of 2019 at Serengeti Outlook Pub and Restaurant and Garden Gate Café. Valid identification is required for age verification.
